Tens of thousands of readers, hundreds of new members and dozens of educational reading activities in the Libraries of the Municipality of Chania for 2024.
The libraries of the Municipality of Chania are “hives” of cultural events, experiential activities, various initiatives and creative workshops, making them important centers of culture, knowledge, and democracy in our region.
They sent an optimistic message for another year, in line with the very encouraging statistics recorded for 2024.
✅By constantly evolving and renewing their services to the public, the Municipal Libraries of Chania managed to attract 1,093 new members, while the total number of users/readers reached the admittedly impressive figure of 31,581.
✅A total of 34,870 books and 84 magazines and audiovisual material (CDs and DVDs) were borrowed. 2,491 new volumes were acquired, bringing the total number of books in the collection to 176,711.
✅The total number of school visits and other activities for children was:
112 school visits and 121 reading activities, which brought 5,386 children to the libraries.
