The Children’s and Teenagers’ Library is located in the Municipal Garden and was inaugurated in February 1987. Children from kindergarten to high school are served by librarians Athina Gianoulaki, Litsa Mastorakaki and theater expert Roula Tatsopoulou.
Today, it has a collection of over 20,000 books and many board games. The library is a lending library. Each member can borrow five (5) books for fifteen (15) days.
Children up to 12 years of age must be accompanied by their parents to register. They must be permanent residents of the prefecture and have their police ID. High school and middle school students can become members by presenting their police ID or that of their parents.
The Library allows children and teenagers to read books, listen to music and play educational board games on its premises.
In addition to daily borrowing and use of educational board games, our young friends can participate in and enjoy a variety of activities, events, and programs held on the premises.
The aim of these actions is, on the one hand, to increase readership and promote reading, teaching the value of extracurricular books and on the other hand, to introduce our young friends to libraries, their operation, use, and importance.
We would like to highlight once again the excellent cooperation with teachers and schools and their daily visits to all the libraries in our municipality.
After almost 30 years of operation and given the multifaceted educational, social and cultural role it plays, its modernization and upgrading are a priority for everyone. Thus, its premises were renovated and, in the summer of 2017, it was handed over to its reading public!
Today, a modern, attractive space for knowledge, play and activities awaits our young friends!
The renovation was undertaken by Mr. Dimitris Chalkiopoulos, a specialist in the design of children’s libraries, who designed the interior, while the architects and engineers of our Municipality supported the implementation of the project.
