Children’s and Teenagers’ Library of Souda

The library opened in June 1999 and serves children aged 5-18.

In addition to studying, children can also play board games, draw and attend various educational and entertainment programs at the library.

The library lends books to young and old alike and has a collection of approximately 7,500 volumes.

Each member can borrow five (5) books for fifteen (15) days.

Children up to 12 years of age must be accompanied by their parents to register. It is a prerequisite that they are permanent residents of the Prefecture and have their police ID.

High school students can become members by presenting their police ID or that of their parents.

This library came to us with the merger of the Municipality of Chania with the Municipality of Souda in 2010.

Angeliki Kapanta and librarian Katerina Varanaki played an important role in the development and operation of the library.

The current head of the library is librarian Archontoula Choudalaki.
