The operation of the Mobile Library was carried out in cooperation with the Association of Municipalities and Communities of Chania (TEDK Chania).
However, since 2019, due to technical reasons, it has been out of service. In 2000, a bookmobile was purchased by TEDK, presumably to be used for this purpose, although it remained unused for several years.
From September 2010 onwards, the Mobile Library, in collaboration with teachers, visited Primary Schools and Kindergartens of the Municipality of Chania, with the aim of lending books to students, promoting books and reading, and serving children who did not have easy access to the Children’s Libraries.
The staff of the Municipal Libraries was responsible for the operation of the Mobile Library.
Teachers and students responded with enthusiasm and joy to this new initiative.
On average, every year, it collaborated with 15 school units and lent approximately 3,000 volumes of books.
